A Resilience Scale Development for University Students: Validity and Reliability Study Based on Item Response Theory
Keywords:
Resilience, item response theory, scale developmentAbstract
Development of a resilience scale based on item response theory is aimed for this research. To reach that end, data have been collected from 368 university students and items have been calibrated with graded response model and generalized partial credit model. Assumptions of item response theory were tested with exploratory factor analysis and Yen’s Q3 statistics, and item calibrations conducted with 35 items. Results showed that graded response model fits better for the scale and marginal reliability coefficient has been found as .973. However, when the test information function is examined, it is concluded that the scale provides more information for individuals with resilience level between -2.50 and .50.
