Abstract

The teaching of number-line concept begins from the first year on in the programs of mathematics courses. Number line is not only a basic concept in mathematics, but also an important medium in progressing mental computation and improving problem solving skills. In this study, a new approach to teaching number line called “apple-stair” is set forth. This approach is suitable for Realistic Mathematics Education. At the end of this study, it was found that “applestair” is a good model for teaching number line.
