Abstract

In today’s business environment, there exist a lot of competition among companies. Theefficiency of employees and the productivity of employees are a significant and important component ofthe success of an any business. The extreme stress faced in the working environment greatly impedes thisefficiency and this has drawn the attention of many employers. And Knowing the factors leading to workstress and its impact on employee performance is vital for any organization to ensure its success andsmooth functioning. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of work stress on theperformance of employees, using the purposeful and simple random approach to select the sample size of200 participants. Using questionnaires and focus group discussion, data collection was conducted. Thefindings indicate that the participants suffer from undue stress that adversely affects their performance,as many of them feel that leadership exerts pressure on them to improve their performance
