Abstract

The article describes the main lexical and spelling differences between British and American versions of English linguocultural features of lexical units in the media. Since school, many have developed a stereotype - the British speak more correctly than the Americans. However, contrary to popular belief, there is no more correct version of the language. Each dialect reflects the cultural characteristics of the inhabitants of different countries. British and American English, like any dialect, have some differences in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
