Teachers’ Views with Regard to New Primary School Curriculum

Abstract

What do the new primary curricula which were put into effect practice at the 2005-2006 academic year imply for teachers? This is the main quest for this article and it was aimed to analyze teachers’ views in relation to constructivist curricula. A total of 2600 primary school teachers working in primary schools in the city of Afyonkarahisar and in the villages that belong to the city were chosen as the study population for this research. When ‘teachers’ profession rank’ variable is taken into account, item 16 in the research instrument
proved to be 0,05 meaningful between those who have 21 and above years of teaching career and those who have 1-10 years. When the same variable considered, it was also found that there was a 0,05 meaningful differentiation with respect to item 19 between those who have 1-10 years of teaching career and those of 11-20 years. In consideration of the place in which teaching profession is carried out’ variable; items 1, 6, 7, 16, and 18 differed to be 0,05 meaningful between urban and rural teachers.
