Abstract

This work is carried out to develop an improved Scheffe’s second degree polynomial based model that can be used to optimize the compressive strength of concrete. The compressive strength of fresh and partially set concrete was determined for different ratios which affect the strength of concrete. Control experiments were also carried out and the compressive strength determined. The adequacy of the model developed was tested using student’s t-test and Fisher’s test. The test results give a good correlation between the model and control results. Compressive strength of all points in the simplex can be derived with the help of this model.
