SURROGACY: IMPACT OF THE NEW LAWS IN INDIA

Abstract

The recently proposed law has made surrogacy a pressing topic in India. A surrogate mother gives birth to a newborn for a woman who is infertile. She is referred to as the birth provider if she conceives, gestates, and gives birth to the infant on behalf of another
woman. Before 2015, India was a major centre for surrogacy, but there were no rules governing the practice.
