Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the lexical differences between Punjabi and Saraiki. It also helps those students who want to learn Punjabi language and the second language of Saraiki. The numeral amount of studies have carried out which estimate the degree of comparability between two separate languages and two dialects of the same language, but the level of similarity between Saraiki and Punjabi has not yet been investigated. One thousand words of high-frequency use of the Levenshtein's algorithm (1966) to examine the discrepancy between these words (the new corpus fulfilled by the investigator) in Punjabi and Saraiki. The theory is that, owing to the hereditary relationship between the two language systems, the lexical gap between the two systems is less than 75%.
