Development of Comunnication Skills Through Creative Drama at Social Work Education: An Example of an Implementation of the Course

In this study, the effect of creative drama on the communication skills of social services students
is researched The study was conducted with the fifty-eight selected subject (twenty-eight for experimental
group and twenty-six for control group) from among the students who study at a social services department in
Ankara. In this study, an experimental research design with pre-test/post-test and control group was used. A
training program that contains twelve sessions and is based on communication skills development was
developed by the researchers and implemented to students. “Communication Skills Assessment Scale” which
was developed by Korkut (1997) was used as an assessment instrument. Wilcoxon Test and Mann Whitney U
Test was used to control whether there is a significant difference between the points of the experimental and
the control groups. According to obtained data of the study, there was a significant difference between the pretest/post-test of the experimental group while there was no significant difference for the control group.
