Abstract

This article discusses a critical review of existing views on the problem of paronymy and related events. Paronyms are defined as words that may be mispronounced or punctuated in speech as a result of partial matching of phoneme and morphological content. A word game that is organically related to the structure of a particular language, or a pun, demonstrates the creative potential of the language
with particular brilliance. If the humor generated by the situation, the context, is truly universal for understanding, then this is a special privilege for a relatively small number of people who perfectly know all the riches of the comic language created with the help of linguistic means. This is especially true of the authors of the puns, however, the perception of extraordinary humor requires a certain linguistic knowledge.
