Influence of Media Negative News on Youth in Gender Perspective: A Case Study of Universities Students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The present study focuses on new approaches to examine the influence of media negative news on the youth in gender perspective. The study was quantitative in nature and survey design was applied. A sample of 838 students was taken out of 16754 students enrolled in four universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A self-developed questionnaire on five-Point Likert scale was used for data collection. Index of Item-Objective-Congruence (IOC) and Cronbach’s Alpha was used to measure the validity and reliability of the instrument respectively. Chi-square was used to measure the association between media negative news and gender. The result of the study depicts that there is significant association between media negative news (exposure to negative news and attention to negative news) and gender.
