Abstract

The Quran is the central religious text of Islam and, thus, is considered a sacred scripture among the Muslims across the
world, on the one hand. On the other, it is also considered as the most reliable resource of the classical Arabic literature. The Muslims exegetes have observed different approaches towards the Quran in order to reach the true meanings of this divine text. One
of them is the literary approach adopted by several scholars of the Quran throughout the Islamic centuries. This paper, however, examines the literary approach introduced by an Egyptian scholar Amīn al-Khūlī (d. 1966) and later on extended by his student and
wife, ‘Āisha bint ‘Abd al-Rahmān (d. 1998) through her scholarly works.
