Analysis of "Gülibik", One of Çetin Öner’s Children’s Books, in Terms of Structural and Educational Principles

The most important aim of language and literature teaching environments is to develop individuals who have acquired a reading culture. In order to enable the child to acquire reading culture, the basic structure of the books (size / dimensions, paper, cover / volume, page layout, letters, pictures) and internal structure features (subject, theme, plan, messages, characters, language and expression features) must be qualified in terms of educational principles and in conformity with the principle of suitability to the child. The main aim of this study is to examine one of Çetin ÖNER's children’s novels, "Gülibik", in terms of basic education principles together with its internal and external structure and evaluate the book in the context of the principle of suitability to the child. In this study, "descriptive analysis" technique was used. Our analysis revealed that the book "Gülibik" is qualified in terms of basic educational principles and also it is suitable with regards the principle of suitability to the child
