This study examined the relationships between parental involvement, parenting styles on the
internet using and compulsive internet use of adolescents. Participants of the study were 142 adolescents
(52 boys, 90 girls) and their mothers and fathers. Parental involvement scale, parenting style for internet
using scale and compulsive internet using scale was administered to both adolescents and their mothers
and fathers. Results indicated that parental involvement, parental control and communication for internet
using was negatively correlated with compulsive internet use. Hierarchical regression analyses provided
evidence that paternal involvement and maternal control for internet using were significant predictors of
the compulsive internet use of adolescents. Implications for intervention programs are discussed.
