Abstract

This study aimed the Turkish adaptation the Kaufman Domains of Creativity Scale (K-DOCS) which was developed by Kaufman (2012) adopting the point of view that creativity is specific to the domain on a sample group of gifted high school students. As a result of explanatory factor analysis performed to investigate the construct validity of the scale, a five-factor structure consisting of 42 items was obtained. This structure was tested on a different sample group. Confirmatory factor analysis suggested the structure to be compatible except for one item. The Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficients for the sub-factors ranged between .87 and .77. The Cronbach alpha coefficient for the overall scale was .90. The discriminant validity for the subfactors was investigated using the difference between lower and upper 27% group scores. As a result of this, a significant difference was determined between the scores upper and lower groups (t(69) = –62.277, –129.235, – 74.747, –150.421 ve –145.253, p< .01). These results indicate that the Turkish version of KDCS is a valid and reliable instrument.
