Investigation of 8th Grade Students’ Knowledge and Skills about Histogram

In this case study, to examine 8th grade students’ knowledge and skills about histogram were aimed. Thus, 17 eighth grade students attending a public middle school in the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year in Ankara-Polatlı were determined as participants. Data were collected with semi-structured interviews conducted by researchers. For data analyse, qualitative and quantitative methods were both used to gather. According to the results it was found that students had difficulty in distinguishing types of data, drawing and interpreting histogram and being aware of the differences between histogram and bar graph. To deal with these difficulties, emphasizing the data types in lessons is one of the recommendation of this study.
