It was aimed at conducting the implementation and evaluation of a web based instructional
material which was designed for level of 3rd grade elementary students. The material consisting of animated videos
was evaluated by 48 teacher candidates. An experimental study was carried out and the mathematical content was
described by two different methods in two different classes. Planar Shapes Comprehension Test (PSCT) was used
in order to compare the learning levels of the students. Moreover, Animation Opinion Questionnaire (AOQ) was
used in order to uncover student views on material. In the analysis of data, both a variety of statistical techniques
and descriptive reports were employed. In conclusion, the developed material was observed as appropriate to be
used in teaching environments, and it was effective in the learners’ comprehension of abstract concepts
