The Study of Developments in Computer Education in Turkey between1960 -1988

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to introduce the developments of units of related institutions, teacher training, educational programs and education and training conditions in MOE. The study is realized in descriptive survey model. Related literature was reviewed in Turkey and in developed countries in 1960-1988, and summarized the developments and related applications in Public and private sector, universities, Ministry of State and Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Institution. Then changes in teacher training, educational
programs and education and training conditions in MOE were also summarized. The reflections of report was explained. Findings showed that applications in Turkey were parallel to applications in developed countries, priority were given to computer education and teacher training through in service training, the report was taken into consideration to a great extend and cooperated with other institutions.
