Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment in Leadership Coherence, Psychological Empowerment and Teacher Performance Relationship

The mediator role of organizational commitment in the relationship between leadership team coherence, psychological empowerment and performance was investigated in the present study. The study was conducted with voluntary participation of 407 teachers working in schools that were selected randomly in the center of Ankara. ‘Leadership Team Coherence Scale-LTCS’, ‘Psychological Empowerment Scale-PES’, ‘Employee Performance Scale-EPS’ and ‘Organizational Commitment Scale-OCS’ was used to gather data. The relationship between the variables was investigated by using path analysis. The results of the study indicate that teachers’ levels of organizational commitment, leadership team coherence, psychological empowerment and performance are moderate. Besides, the relationships between the variables were analyzed and the results are positive and significant. Moreover, the results of the study revealed that, the relationship between psychological empowerment and performance was not direct. Organizational commitment had a full mediating role in the relation between psychological empowerment and performance
