Primary Schools’ Openness to Change

The purpose of this study is to determine the primary schools’ openness to change based on
teachers’ views. This study was designed as a survey study. The population comprises of 3808 teachers working
in the state primary schools in the central district of Malatya province. The sample consists of 407 teachers
working in 16 primary schools. In order to determine the primary schools’ openness to change, the Faculty
Change Orientation Scale-FCOS was adapted into Turkish by the researcher. As a result, it was found teachers
“mostly agree” that their schools are open to change. Also, it was found that primary school teachers’ scores
from different dimensions of the openness to change scale differ significantly with regard to gender, professional
experience, and last higher education program they graduated
