Abstract

Turkey has experienced three major curricula in teacher training system in last thirty years.
In this study, we compared the views of teachers who trained by the different curricula namely 1982,
1997 and 2007 teachers training systems in terms of the effectiveness of pre-service education. The study
group contains 641 teachers who work in primary and lower secondary education levels in academic year
of 2011-2012 in Aksaray Province. Research is carried out in the survey design and the data are collected
in understanding of mixed method approach including both quantitative and qualitative techniques.
Depending on the results we concluded that pre-service education is ineffective across the different
curricula specifically for teaching effectively, teaching children with special needs and meeting the
professional demands.
