Abstract

This study intends to find out the exhaustion level of teachers working at preschool education institutions according to the variables of gender, marital status, whether they regard preschool teaching as an appropriate occupation for themselves, the number of schools they worked so far, working hours and the region in which they work. The sample of the study consists of 395 preschool teachers working in various provinces of Turkey. The data collection tools of the study are “Personal Information Form” designed by the researchers and “Maslach Burnout Inventory” developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981). Percentage, frequency, t-test, chisquare and Pearson correlation test were used for the statistical analysis of the data. The study demonstrates that preschool teachers experience varying degrees of burnout in the dimensions of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment based on certain variables.
